SPAHOUSEC Series. Analysis of the energy consumption of Spanish households, their equipment and energy consumption habits
Studies on Spanish household consumption (SERIES SPAHOUSEC)
Conducted during 2021 and 2022, this study, like its predecessors, aims to analyse the energy consumption of Spanish households, their equipment and energy consumption habits.
It will respond to the statistical requirements established in Commission Regulation (EU) 2019/2146, which urges Member States to have disaggregated information on consumption by use in the residential sector.
The study consists of a survey of household equipment and behaviour targeting a large sample of dwellings, both primary and secondary, which is an improvement on previous editions. It also includes on-site measurements of electricity consumption in a panel of primary dwellings, incorporating methodological improvements such as the use of less intrusive virtual submetering technologies using machine learning techniques.
A bottom-up approach has been adopted, based on fieldwork measuring electricity consumption in homes and integrating different methods and sources of information.
- Resumen de información básica (Summary of basic information)
- Informe final (Final report)
SPAHOUSEC IIConducted between 2016 and 2018, this study complements the previous one.
It aims to deepen and update the available knowledge on the residential sector. Its main objective is to determine the thermal consumption of Spanish households that have individual heating systems based on natural gas in their primary residences or main homes.
It includes a number of features that differentiate it from the previous study, the main difference being the on-site measurement of natural gas consumption for heating services. The study has also provided a deeper understanding of the availability and behavior associated with the equipment in households with individual heating systems.
